Lucy Sanders is an LTA Level 4 tennis coach for A Star Tennis, with 10 years of Tennis coaching experience and 20 years of playing experience. Lucy is originally from Worcester but moved to Solihull two years ago.

Whilst gathering a first-class degree at the University of Worcester studying Sport Coaching Science BSc, Lucy developed her coaching to become more games-based (learning through the game of tennis) by incorporating up-to-date research. This helps Lucy to create a fun, realistic environment in which players can learn their tennis abilities - whilst still playing the game we love! Lucy believes tennis should be for everyone and strives to include everyone in her lessons through positive attitudes and inclusive approaches.

Lucy has experience coaching a wide range of players from 3-year-olds up, whether at recreational level of striving for national standards, as well as teaching in America and the UK. She also has significant experience working in school-based settings and as such has a wide range of strategies in place to get the best from groups of younger players.

Lucy's accomplishments:

  • LTA Apprenticeship runner-up 2014
  • Taught a U10's female player to national selection
  • Gained first-class degree in Sports Coaching Science (BSc)
  • Ran a very successful part court scheme, increasing attendance and achieving the Communities and park award 2021

I am Junior Co-Ordinator at Hampton Tennis Club. I started playing tennis at the age of 4, starting my journey at Warwick Tennis Club. I'm currently playing for Warwick Boat Club and have represented the club in the National Players League.

I started coaching at the age of 14, assisting with a range of junior groups from the ages of 3-13, including sports camps during the holidays and have just completed my Level 2. I have coached at various clubs around Warwickshire and Worcestershire including Warwick Tennis Club, Boughton Park Lawn Tennis Club and Solihull Arden Club.

We welcome Sam to Hampton. Sam is a fully qualified LTA tennis coach and a valued member of Ian's coaching team

Sam began playing tennis at the age of four with his grandfather. A talented player, Sam progressed as he grew up and represented his county, Avon. Sam eventually got to the qualifying rounds of Junior Wimbledon.

Sam then became a LTA licensed coach, and has been coaching for six and a half years. He has worked in a number of places including Bristol, Kent plus Kos, working for Mark Warner Holidays. He is a DCA Level 3 Coach. A former club champion at all disciplines, he has played the qulaifying rounds for junior Wimbledon.

Sam's outside sporting interests include tennis (again!) and especially Leeds United football club.

Coaching portfolio:

  • Group coaching Mini Red, Orange, Green and Yellow Ball - groups consisting of 3 to 12 players per group
  • Individual coaching of juniors and adults
  • Running junior and adult social club nights

Starting my tennis career in Germany in 1997, I played to a high standard for several junior and men's teams before moving to the UK in 2012. Now focussing on bilingual coaching (German and English), I am a coach at both Hampton In Arden Sports Club and Solihull Arden Club. I enjoy working with young children, juniors and adults of all ages to share my love for the game, help players excel in their achievements and accomplish their goals.

Tennis Accolades:

  • Junior Club Champion at TC Westerholt, Germany
  • Junior City Champion in Herten, NRW, Germany
  • Junior Performance Team Player Leistungsklasse I
  • Men's Team Player District Division

My coaching philosophy: "I'm there for the players, not the players there for me. My job is to make them better with every court experience."
